Because our King is the most hardworking King in the entire Universe.
During his 7-decade reign, it has been recorded that the King had spent more than 200 days per year, for more than four decades, in hard-to-reach rural areas where he had initiated more than 2,000 royal projects aimed solely at improving the well-being of Thai people especially those who are underprivileged. Most of royal projects are focusing on improving irrigation system for agriculture, farming development, and engineering solutions for flood mitigation including the famous Royal Rainmaking Project to reduce the devastation of drought.
As a Bangkokian, I feel gratitude to the Lat Pho Canal Flood Gate project the most. This 600-meter artificial canal equipped with advanced water gate & hydro power system was constructed in 2006 by dredging a channel that could function as a shortcut canal with water drainage capacity up to 660 cubic meters per second, or 60 million cubic meters per day. This streamflow capacity equals to one small river about the size of the Yom River.
Our King had urged all related departments to collaborate together and designed the water gates at Lat Pho Canal to help guiding and releasing water from up north to the Gulf of Thailand. The flood gate system has operated since 2010 and it can prevent #Bangkokand neighboring towns from a big flood problem each year.
How can we not love and respect our King???
The history of his long dedication to this country, his visions and his legacy shall live on with us in our hearts forever.
